Tasting Notes A bigger wine than the previous vintage, with a nose that is more eager to jump out of the glass. Still has the same same delicate spices and exotic aromas of strawberries, spice and vanilla that characterized the last vintage, but perhaps with a hint of red cherries as well. A surprisngly complex Pinot Noir for the money, with a refreshingly reasonable 13% alcohol that let's you share a bottle and not feel completely blotto. Happiest when paired with food, this wine is still very content to take the solo spotlight. Over the last decade, winemaker Laely Heron has developed a reputation for making fine wines at amazing prices. Her wines offer definite proof that one can still enjoy a nice wine every night and have that arm and leg handy for when you want to buy a few of those special occasion, collectible wines.
Winemaker's Notes: Perhaps no grape variety is as sensitive to climate as Pinot Noir. To ensure that this Pinot Noir delivers pure varietal character, we harvest fruit from vineyards in the Oceanic zone of Limoux, France. Many people are surprised to find that this microclimate is created by the influence of the distant Atlantic Ocean. Less well known than Burgundy and Champagne, it is similarly characterized as being a perfect climate for cool-weather varietals such as Pinot Noir.
