Tasting Notes

Nose: Highly aromatic with red currants, ripe cherries, a dash of dried herbs.

Palate: Blends the complexity and intensity of a big Cabernet with softer, suppler tannins. Deep and lush. Poised between boldness and delicacy. You'll be amazed to see how this wine's relatively low alcohol (<14%) makes this wine so great with food - less assertive, more complimentary than may pricier wines.

Over the last decade, winemaker Laely Heron has developed a reputation for making fine wines at amazing prices. Her wines offer definite proof that one can still enjoy a nice wine every night and have that arm and leg handy for when you want to buy a few of those special occasion, collectible wines.

Food Pairings

Most Cabernets are paired with foods that match their big, bold, high alcohol, fruit-and-oak profiles (which means, not much more than a good steak, actually) But this affordable wine treads the difficult path between bold and delicate – a Baryshnikov of a wine – and are as comfortable performing athletic leaps next to deep winter stews, roast meats and braised dishes as they are performing a delicate Pas de Deux with lighter meals such as pork, roast turkey or chicken, pasta or fish and veggies on the grill.

Napa Valley Fruit, aged in French oak barrels, how Heron can produce a wine with these credentials and sell them for such reasonable rates is beyond me.
